I met Inna after researching her accomplishments as a nominee for Jewish Week’s “36 Under 36” issue, dedicated to honoring 36 young members of New York’s Jewish community who have demonstrated unique leadership. I was delighted to recommend her, and even more delighted to have done so after my superiors selected her for the honor. Inna is witty, ambitious, and hardworking. Perhaps most unique, she is courageous and principled as an activist and attorney. Not just everyone volunteers her time, raises awareness about disrespectful media depictions of others, and takes risks for the sake of principle. She is quite exceptional!

My father won an apartment through lottery in the Muchelama Co-Op building. At the interview, the board told him that he is not qualified for the apartment for reasons of financial instability. After we negotiated with the board several times, the board made its final decision to deny my father the rights to ownership of the apartment. I contacted an attorney who advised me that my father had no case. I was absolutely helpless and devastated when a friend recommended that I contact Inna Vernikov. Inna offered to appeal the board’s decision. Because the deadline to appeal was only a few days away, Inna spent hours into the night reading and drafting the appeal to help my father win this case. I will never forget the night Inna Vernikov stayed up until 4:00am with my dad’s papers. I was the happiest person when I found out that she won the appeal and I am forever grateful to her. She did an AMAZING job and I’m proud to call her my attorney.
